It doesn’t matter how you try to spin it. Maybe you’ve told yourself it wasn’t cheating. Maybe that makes it easier to sleep at night. But the truth is, the label doesn’t change the reality of what you did. And deep down, I think you know that.

You carried on behind my back for weeks—maybe months. You sent him messages, shared intimate thoughts, and gave away pieces of yourself that were supposed to be mine. You got caught up in it, addicted to the thrill. You hid it from me deliberately, and when I asked who you were talking to, it wasn’t suspicion—it was curiosity. I was trying to engage with you, to share a moment of laughter. And for that, I was mocked. You laughed about me with him. That wasn’t just betrayal. That was cruelty.

You knew it was wrong. You had to keep it quiet. You had to lie to my face, dodge questions, twist your words to protect your secret. If you truly believed it was innocent, why go to such lengths to cover it up? Why deny it until there was no denying left?

So no—you don’t have to call it cheating. If that word is too heavy for you to carry, don’t. But you don’t get to pretend it was harmless. You don’t get to act like it didn’t matter, like it didn’t destroy something in me.

You can keep running from the label, but you can’t outrun what you did. And eventually, you’ll have to sit with that truth. Not the version you tell yourself to feel better—but the one that lives in the silence, when there’s no one left to convince but yourself.
